Del Monte Foods Scholarship

As Growers of Good®, Del Monte Foods is committed to growing a healthier and more hopeful tomorrow. That means providing a wide range of benefits and opportunities for team members and their families. Del Monte Foods recognizes the value of education to total well-being and has established a scholarship program to assist team members’ dependents who plan to attend or are attending a college, university, or vocational/trade school.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Del Monte Foods Scholarship must be:

  • A dependent child* age 26 and under of a Del Monte Foods team member (“DMFI team member)** with a minimum of one (1) year employment as of the program deadline
    * Dependent child is defined as biological, step-, or legally adopted child living in the DMFI team member’s household or primarily supported by the DMFI team member.
    ** DMFI team member is defined as a full-time hourly, salaried, or seasonal employee in the United States with a hire date one year before the scholarship application deadline date and a minimum of one year of employment, who may be in seasonal active or layoff status, but not terminated, at the time of the scholarship application deadline date.
  • A high school senior, high school graduate, or current college undergraduate
  • Plan to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

First generation college students are encouraged to apply.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000.00 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable. Past recipients may not reapply.

Provided there are qualified applicants, a minimum of five (5) awards will be granted to those that self-identify on their application as BIPOC*.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

* BIPOC is defined as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander

Notification

All applicants will be notified in March.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Del Monte Foods. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Personal or family circumstances that create a hardship
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Del Monte Foods play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Past scholarship recipients may not reapply. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than January 22, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
