Awards

20 awards of $5,000 will be granted to students pursuing 2-year programs and 40 awards of $10,000 will be granted to students pursuing 4-year degrees. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by Dominion Energy. Applicants must also continue to reside in one of the eligible states.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Finalists are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial information will be collected from applicants. 80% of scholarships will be awarded on a combination of need and merit with the remaining 20% awarded on the basis of merit.

Scholarship America will select finalists and Dominion Energy will determine the recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.
