Opportunity's Front Door

Dominium Scholarship for Residents
Deadline to apply: April 25, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time

Providing safe and affordable housing is an essential part of building strong communities, but communities need more than just space to thrive. Dominium is committed to empowering those we serve. We believe in creating opportunities for both our residents and employees to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential. And we know that education can often be the first step to opening new doors. To help break down financial barriers and provide easier access to certification programs and higher learning, Dominium has established a scholarship program to assist residents of Dominium owned properties who plan to continue their education in two-year or four-year college, vocational or certificate programs. We believe that community fosters talent, and when talent gets a chance to shine, the future looks brighter for everyone. Talent lives everywhere, opportunity lives here.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Dominium Scholarship for Residents must be:

  • High school seniors or graduates, current college undergraduates, or adults on a path to achieve a degree or vocational-technical certificate, who plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year or until a degree or certification is received.
  • A resident of a Dominium owned property as of 8/1/23 and in good standing as of the application deadline date. Residents include custodial children and grandchildren of residents who were listed on the lease at the time of lease signing.

Award
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award.  Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year if they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only. K-12 and graduate programs are not eligible.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • A short essay

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Dominium play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
