Ducommun Incorporated has established a scholarship program to assist children and grandchildren of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Ducommun Scholarship Program must be:
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $3,000. Students selected as recipients attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school will be eligible to receive a $2,000 award. Selected recipients attending a four-year college or university will be eligible to receive a $3,000 award.
The number of awards allocated to each location will be in direct proportion to the number of applications received, provided there are qualified applicants. Preference will be given to students who have not previously received the award.
Awards for four-year colleges or universities may be renewed for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Awards for vocational-technical schools or two-year colleges are renewable for up to one additional year or until completion of the program/associate’s degree is earned, whichever comes first.
Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at Ducommun Incorporated and continuation of the program by Ducommun Incorporated.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Ducommun Incorporated play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
All applicants will be notified in July.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Ducommun Incorporated. Payments are made in one installment in August. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
Awards are contingent upon continued active employment at the time checks are issued; if an employee resigns or terminates employment before the award check is issued, the student will be ineligible for the award.
