Educators Credit Union Scholarship Program

Educators Credit Union has established a scholarship for high school seniors who will be continuing their higher education. This one-time scholarship will be made payable to the accredited school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Educators Credit Union Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be the primary owner of an active Prime Share Savings account at Educators Credit Union for a minimum of one (1) year as of the application deadline.
  • Be enrolled in a Dane, Green, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Walworth, Washington, or Waukesha County high school.*
  • Be a current high school senior eligible for graduation at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of first-semester senior year.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Tell how you live, or have demonstrated, one of Educators five core values in your life – honesty, integrity, fairness, respect and excellence.

*Students participating in a home-based educational program, privately operated correspondence or virtual school must reside in the qualifying counties listed above. Applicants attending these programs must also provide proof of enrollment with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (form PI-1206) for the 2022-2023 school year, ACT or SAT scores, and any records relating to curriculum and academic progress.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award.  Up to thirty-five (35) awards will be granted.

Awards are one-time and are for undergraduate study only.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Educators Credit Union. Payment is made in August.

Recipients will be required to complete the following before awards are disbursed:

  • Submit a picture to be used in publicizing the award.
  • Complete assigned modules of the online financial education program EverFi through the Educators Credit Union website by June 15, 2023. Modules completed as part of required schoolwork can be counted.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of demonstrated core values
  • Unique personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Educators Credit Union play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in April.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 3, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.
