Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund

The Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund (the Trust) has established a scholarship to assist students in Kosciusko County, Indiana who are pursuing a medical, nursing, or other related clinical education degrees.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a currently enrolled high school senior or student who graduated from a high school located in Kosciusko County, Indiana or is a currently enrolled college undergraduate student located in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
  • Pursuing a medical, nursing, or other related clinical education degree at an accredited two- or four- year college or university.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent.)

PNC Bank, N.A. employees and their children are ineligible.

 

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award based upon the annual amount available from the Trust, and the student’s financial need as calculated by Scholarship America.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered

Scholarship America will select finalists. Trustee PNC Bank N.A. will review finalist applications and select the recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in mid-June.  Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank N.A. Trustee.  Payment is made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 1, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
