Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund

The Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund (the Trust) has established a scholarship to assist students in Kosciusko County, Indiana who are pursuing a medical, nursing, or other related clinical education degree.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Earl E. and Marie M. Smith Educational Memorial Fund must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a student who graduated from a high school located in Kosciusko County, Indiana or is currently enrolled at a college or university located in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
  • Be a current college undergraduate student pursuing a medical, nursing, or other related clinical education degree at an accredited two- or four- year college or university.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent.)
  • PNC Bank, N.A. employees and their children are ineligible.


Award Amounts

Up to four (4) awards will be granted.  If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award based upon the annual amount available from the Trust, and the student’s financial need as calculated by Scholarship America.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need will be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee, play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


All applicants will be notified in mid-June.  Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank N.A. Trustee.  Payment is made in December.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
