Patrick D. Daniel Continuing Education Scholarship

Enbridge has established the Patrick D. Daniel Continuing Education Scholarship to honor Pat and to recognize selected employees for their ongoing, voluntary pursuit of knowledge that enhances professional and leadership development and positions awardees to foster continuous learning amongst others.

Pat held many positions at Enbridge including President and Chief Executive Officer. His demonstrated commitment to employee development and collaboration at Enbridge are among the reasons he is being honored through this program.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants of the Patrick D. Daniel Continuing Education Scholarship award must:

  • Be full- or part-time Enbridge employees in the U.S. or Canada who have a minimum of one year employment with the company as of the application deadline date
  • Be planning to enroll in study* at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school during the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Identify a program of study which supports acquiring knowledge that enhances technical and/or leadership capabilities in support of contributions to individual, department and company goals and  interests
  • Demonstrate support of others in pursuit of their development goals (inside or outside the organization). E.g. community involvement
  • Demonstrate positive attributes such as energy, curiosity, creativity, innovation and diversity (including diversity of thought)
  • Meet or exceeds and maintains the performance expectations of his or her current position. As determined by the People Leader and Business Unit/Function Vice President, a recipient should:
    • Possess knowledge/skills that are core to our business and are difficult to replace in the current market;
    • Demonstrate potential to move into next technical level/Individual Contributor role/leader level in 18-36 months; and/or
    • Demonstrate high potential for a leadership role

*Eligible programs of study include undergraduate and graduate degrees, post-secondary certificate/diploma programs, and professional designations. Classes must be taken outside of regular working hours.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive:

  • A $10,000 award
  • Up to two (2) awards will be granted this year
  • Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements
  • Award checks will be issued in U.S. currency

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Program of Study Essay
  • An online recommendation

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Enbridge play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Enbridge. Awards will be paid in one installment in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Submit proof of enrollment in an eligible program.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 5, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.
