Equitable Excellence℠ Emergency Grant Program

Equitable Foundation has established an emergency funding program to assist current or past Equitable Excellence Scholarship recipients and Equitable Family Scholarship recipients who are enrolled full-time in and have unexpected financial difficulties which may impact their enrollment in school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Equitable Excellence Emergency Grant Program must:

  • Be a current or past Equitable Excellence Scholarship recipient, OR
  • Be current or past Equitable Family Scholarship recipients,
  • Be a current postsecondary undergraduate student enrolled full-time,
  • Have unexpected financial difficulties which may impact their enrollment in school,
  • Demonstrate financial need,
  • Have documentation demonstrating financial need for an eligible expense. Acceptable documentation includes bills, invoices, and receipts and must be submitted within ninety (90) days in order to be reimbursed.

Eligible expenses (for student only, not family members):

  • Off-Campus Housing/Utilities
  • Medical/Dental
  • Technology/Computer/Wi-Fi
  • Childcare
  • Food/Meals/Groceries
  • Public Transportation/Car Repair (not gas or insurance)

Ineligible expenses:

  • Gas
  • Cell phone costs
  • Tobacco/Alcohol
  • Entertainment expenses
  • Tuition and fees/On-Campus Housing
  • Required course materials/Books

Selection Criteria

Distribution of emergency funds will be determined by providing the financial information from the Student Aid Report (found on the FAFSA application), Expected Family Contribution, and school costs.

Processing and Funding

Eligible students may apply once per application cycle. Students may receive up to one emergency grant for a single eligible expense per application cycle.

All funding is contingent upon the availability of funds. Grants will be made payable directly to the students through Corporate Quick Pay, whenever possible.

Applicants will be notified via email by Scholarship America of their emergency funding application status.

Revisions

Equitable Foundation reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. A copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application
  2. Document of school cost (i.e., current billing statement)
  3. Documentation of the unexpected financial emergency (i.e., a bill showing the amount due)
  4. Current class schedule or proof of enrollment (document must show the current semester, your name, and your school’s name)
