ETS-Trenton Central High School Scholarship Program

Educational Testing Service (ETS) has created the ETS-Trenton Central High School Scholarship Program to recognize and aid talented graduating seniors who have a desire to attend college at a two- or four-year accredited, not-for-profit institution of the student’s choice. Recipients of this scholarship are those who can provide evidence of a high level of academic achievement, strong community engagement, demonstrated school leadership throughout their high school years and have financial need.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or disability.

Applicants to the ETS-Trenton Central High School Scholarship Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current Trenton Central High School (TCHS) senior graduating in June 2020.
  • Have a minimum, cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) at time of application.
  • Must demonstrate school leadership qualities and strong community engagement through participation in community service, school government, or other activities in and outside of school.
  • Plan to enroll at a two- or four-year accredited, not-for-profit institution.
  • Must show financial need.

Award information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of up to $10,000 for a four-year school or up to $5,000 for a two-year school.
  • Awards are renewable* up to three (3) times for a four-year school or one (1) year for a two-year school or until a degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Awards must be used consecutively.
  • Approximately three (3) new awards will be granted per year.

*Awards will not be renewed for a student if they transfer from a two-year institution to a four-year institution or if they transfer from a four-year institution to a two-year institution.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Educational Testing Service in two installments in August and January.

Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Involvement and accomplishments in school leadership activities and community service
  • Work experience/internships
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Essay*

Selection of finalists is made by a dedicated review committee appointed by Scholarship America. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Write about a person or an experience that has been a major influence in the student’s life and how that person or experience has influenced his/her decision to attend college?

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken
