ETS Cares Scholarship Program
Live application window: February 1, 2021 through March 31, 2021 4:00 pm ET or once 500 applications have been received.

Educational Testing Service (ETS) has established the ETS Cares Scholarship Program to aid graduating high school seniors attending a public high school in New Jersey who have a desire to attend college at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical, not-for-profit institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or disability.

Applicants to the ETS Cares Scholarship Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current high school senior graduating from a public high school in New Jersey.
  • Provide evidence of significant challenge(s)/hardship(s)
  • Plan to enroll at an accredited┬á two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical, not-for-profit institution.

Children of ETS employees working in New Jersey who meet the eligibility requirement may apply regardless of residency.

Award information:

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an one-time award ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.


Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Educational Testing Service in two installments in August and January.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Essay describing the hardship(s)/challenge(s) faced and the impact
  • Academic record and educational experience
  • Involvement and accomplishments in school leadership activities and community service
  • Two (2) online recommendations

Once potential recipients are selected, financial need will be considered to determine award amounts.

Selection of finalists is made by a dedicated review committee appointed by Scholarship America. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

As part of your application, two (2) online recommendation forms must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
