Karl F. Hoenecke Memorial Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Federal Signal Corporation is proud to sponsor the Karl F. Hoenecke Memorial Scholarship Program for children of employees of Federal Signal and its subsidiaries. This program was established in memory of Karl F. Hoenecke, Chairman of the Board of Federal Signal from 1975 to 1987.

Mr. Hoenecke, who died in December of 1987, was an outstanding business and civic leader. He appreciated the value of a quality education in the development of future business leaders. We believe Karl’s and Federal Signal’s high regard for education will be fostered through this scholarship program.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Karl F. Hoenecke Memorial Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children of full-time Federal Signal Corporation employees or a U.S. or foreign subsidiary who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline. To be eligible for the award, employees must be employed full-time by Federal Signal or a U.S. or foreign subsidiary on the scholarship notification date. Children of corporate and subsidiary officers are not eligible.
*Dependent children are children who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
  • Current U.S. high school seniors or international equivalent final year higher/upper secondary students who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.  Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, as well as continued employment of the student’s parent at Federal Signal Corporation or its international subsidiaries.

Awards are for undergraduates only.
