Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (Public Charity) has established a scholarship program to assist students and Firehouse Subs employees who plan to enroll in part-time or full-time Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or an Emergency Medical (Paramedic or EMT) Program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Community applicants to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates, And
  • Plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or an Emergency Medical (Paramedic or EMT) Program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Firehouse Subs employee applicants to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a Firehouse Subs employee who has a minimum of six months employment with the company as of the application deadline AND
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates, And
  • Plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or an Emergency Medical (Paramedic or EMT) Program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Award
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Up to fifteen (15) awards will be granted. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining at cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale) and maintaining at least part-time enrollment for a public service program (Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or Emergency Medical Services (Paramedic or EMT).

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Community applicants are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of public safety career and educational goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Scholarship America will select 15 finalists and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will select community recipients based on essay materials.

Firehouse Subs employee applicants are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of public safety career and educational goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Scholarship America will select recipients.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in early June.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (Public Charity). Payments are made in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.
  2. Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information Page.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation must be submitted on your behalf.

Note: Firehouse Subs employees, we suggest your franchisee or general manager as a recommender.
