Raytheon FIRST Robotics Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Raytheon Company, in partnership with FIRST Robotics, has established the Raytheon/FIRST Robotics Scholarship Program. This program will assist FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team members who plan to continue their education beyond high school. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time, undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Raytheon/FIRST Robotics Scholarship Program are:

  • Students who have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team in high school AND
  • High school seniors who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time* undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical
    school
*Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.

Applicants may receive only one Raytheon Scholarship in any academic year. If an applicant has received another scholarship from Raytheon within the same academic year, he/she will not be eligible for The FIRST Robotics Scholarship Program, and vice versa.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award to be used for undergraduate education-related expenses. Awards granted to high school seniors will be paid at the beginning of the student’s second year of undergraduate postsecondary study and only if the student has achieved a “good standing” status during the initial year.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year eligibility requirements are met. Once a student has been a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team participant, he/she may apply to the program as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior.

Notification

All applicants will be notified of their status by mid-July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility
requirements.
