FNB of Winnsboro and Bert & Kathleen Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship Programs

First National Bank of Winnsboro has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors of Winnsboro High School and Winona High School in Texas who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs in Texas.

The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the First National Bank of Winnsboro and Bert & Kathleen Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship Programs must:

  • Be Winnsboro High School, TX, or Winona High School, TX, graduating seniors.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in Texas for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

Up to three (3) awards of $1,000 each will be granted as follows:

  • Two (2) First National Bank of Winnsboro Scholarship Program recipients will be granted to students from Winnsboro High School.
  • One (1) recipient from Winona High School will receive the Bert & Kathleen Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship, provided there are qualified applicants. If there is no qualified applicant, this award may be granted to a student attending Winnsboro High School.
  • Preference will be given to students receiving no other scholarships.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by First National Bank of Winnsboro.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of First National Bank of Winnsboro play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of First National Bank of Winnsboro. Payment is made in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 21, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.
