Virginia Mason Franciscan Health has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs in healthcare-related majors relating to hospital and clinical settings. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to disability, national origin, race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Awards will be granted to students majoring in selected healthcare related study leading to a career as a Pharmacist, Physician, Registered Nurse (RN), Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist), Nuclear Medicine Technologist, MRI Technologist, CT Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Radiology Technologist, Cardiovascular Technologist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, or Dietitian. Students pursuing religion majors are also eligible. Awards for recipients majoring in the above are:

If selected to be a scholarship recipient, financial need as calculated by Scholarship America, the employee parent’s FTE, and your major will determine the scholarship award amount. Recipients who do not demonstrate financial need as calculated by Scholarship America or whose parents choose not to supply the requested financial information may receive a $750 honorarium.
Awards are limited to one award per family.
Awards are not renewable; however students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. If selected to be a scholarship recipient, financial need as calculated by Scholarship America, the employee parent’s FTE, and your major will determine the scholarship award amount.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified by mid-July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. Payments will be in early August.
