Clean Energy Experts of Tomorrow Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Franklin Energy has established a scholarship program to assist students who are pursuing a major of Engineering, Environmental Science or Sustainable and/or Renewable Energy at an accredited four year college or university in the United States.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Only the first 125 complete applications will be considered; therefore early submission is important. A complete application consists of student application submission and the recommender submission.

The future of clean energy is diverse. We welcome and encourage applicants of all backgrounds and ethnicities.

Applicants to the Clean Energy Experts of Tomorrow Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a current postsecondary undergraduate entering their junior or senior year.
  • Be enrolled in full time undergraduate study at an accredited four year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
  • Have declared a major of Engineering, Environmental Science or Sustainable and/or Renewable Energy.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $6,000 award.  One (1) award will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

All applicants will be notified in April.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Franklin Energy. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship America selects finalists on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, unusual personal or family circumstances, an essay, and an online recommendation. From the pool of finalists, Franklin Energy selects the recipient.

Financial need is not considered.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.  All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 8, 2022 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
