Feeding Tomorrow First Year Student Scholarship Program

Feeding Tomorrow has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education by pursuing an undergraduate degree in food science.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Scholarship Tip Sheet

Applicants to the Feeding Tomorrow First Year Student Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Plan to enroll as a full-time or part-time first-year student pursuing an undergraduate degree in science of food for the entire 2022-2023 academic year.  Please note that for four specified scholarship awards applicants must attend a HERB approved university Applicants for Gateway scholarships must attend any accredited U.S. or bonafide international university.
  • Have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
  • Demonstrate commitment in the science of food profession, such as, but not limited to IFT membership.

Award information:

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of $1,500. Up to eight (8) awards will be granted as follows.

  • Four (4) awards will be granted to students planning to attend HERB approved universities.
  • Four (4) awards will be granted to students attending a university or college not included on the HERB approved university list.

Awards are not renewable and are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Feeding Tomorrow. The Feeding Tomorrow First Year Student Scholarship Program awards tuition scholarships only.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school activities, community activities, and home responsibilities.
  • Commitment to the science of food
  • Statements regarding the applicant’s area of focus in food science and its impact on the food industry/food system

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Feeding Tomorrow play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken
