Genentech Futurelab Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

The Genentech Futurelab Scholarship will support diverse and talented students pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The program will award up to 10 scholarships to high school seniors graduating from El Camino High School or South San Francisco High School in South San Francisco, California, who plan to enroll full-time in a STEM course of study.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Genentech Futurelab Scholarship Program must be:

  • High school seniors attending El Camino High School or South San Francisco High School, in South San Francisco, CA, since 9th grade.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year. Students planning to attend two-year schools are eligible only for the one-time, nonrenewable awards.
  • Intended major in a STEM field (to view eligible majors, visit US Department of Education’s STEM degree list).
  • Have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Awards

In Spring of 2023, the Genentech Futurelab Scholarships will include:

  • Two (2) four-year scholarships (up to $50,000 per year)*
    • Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and continued enrollment in a STEM course of study.
*The final scholarship award amount will be determined by the college/university’s projected full-cost of attendance, minus Expected Family Contribution (EFC), minus other gift aid (scholarships and grants) a student receives each year, and according to financial aid policy of intended school.
  • Two (2) one-time scholarships up to $6,500
  • Six (6) one-time scholarships up to $2,000

Awards are for undergraduate study only.
