George A. Hansen Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

This scholarship is intended as a memorial for George A. Hansen, an Intuit employee for 19 years. His parents, Luisa and William Hansen, have established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college in pursuit of a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the George A. Hansen Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be children or direct dependents, age 23 and under, of regular full-time Intuit employees (domestic and international) who have a minimum of one-year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date. The employee must be employed with Intuit at the time the award is announced.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates or be current postsecondary undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate or graduate study and pursue a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year. Students must confirm their major at the time of acceptance of the award.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award.  Up to three (3) awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Applicants may receive an award from both the George A. Hansen Scholarship Program and the Intuit Scholarship Program in the same year.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, and an online recommendation. Financial need will also be considered.

In no instance does any officer or employee of Intuit or Luisa and William Hansen play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
