This scholarship is intended as a memorial for George A. Hansen, an Intuit employee for 19 years. His parents, Luisa and William Hansen, have established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college in pursuit of a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the George A. Hansen Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:
Children of the President and Chairman are not eligible to apply.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $6,000 award. Up to three (3) awards will be granted.
Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Applicants may receive an award from both the George A. Hansen Scholarship Program and The Scott Cook and Signe Ostby Scholarship Program for Children of Intuit Employees in the same year.
Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need will also be considered.
In no instance does any officer or employee of Intuit or Luisa and William Hansen play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Applicants will be notified in late March. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
