GIADA Scholarship Program

The Georgia Independent Automobile Dealers Association (GIADA) has established a scholarship program to assist owners, officers and employees’ children, stepchildren and grandchildren who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants of GIADA Scholarship Program award must be:

  • Be children, stepchildren or grandchildren of owners, officers or employees of a GIADA member dealership and active Associate Members* who are citizens of the United States and who are employed as of the date of verification. If the employee becomes disabled, retires or dies during the application process, the child, stepchild or grandchild is still eligible
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year

*Associate Members are those companies other than car dealers, who serve the Georgia car dealers. They must operate as a Georgia company, serve Georgia car dealers and be in good standing with GIADA.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive:

  • An award in the amount of $4,000. Up to three (3) awards will be granted each year
  • Awards are not renewable
  • Awards are one time only
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only

Award recipients will also be required to attend the GIADA Grand Banquet on Saturday, July 11th. The banquet will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Savannah Hyatt Riverfront: 2 W. Bay Street, Savannah, Georgia, United States, 31401. Attendees will need to be registered for the convention or can simply register to attend the dinner.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • academic record
  • demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • honors
  • work experience
  • statement of goals and aspirations
  • unusual personal or family circumstances
  • outside appraisal

Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of GIADA play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Non-recipients may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of GIADA. Awards will be paid in one installment in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken

To upload a document, select the type, provide a description and choose the file. Once the file is selected, click the Add Document button.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than 3:00 p.m. Central Time on May 20, 2020.
