Albert Francis Gilmartin Memorial Scholarship Program

The Albert Francis Gilmartin Memorial Scholarship Fund of The Boston Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors at Quincy High School and North Quincy High School who plan to continue their education in undergraduate school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria

  • Be residents of Quincy, MA or the Hough’s Neck neighborhood of Quincy, MA
  • Be high school seniors attending North Quincy High School or Quincy High School
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale)
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Award Amounts

Up to four (4) awards will be granted.

Awards are one-time only and are not renewable.

Estimated award amount is yet to be determined.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late March.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The Boston Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in August.

Selection of Recipients

  • Consideration of academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Online recommendation

Financial need will be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of The Boston Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Revisions
Albert Francis Gilmartin Memorial Scholarship fund of The Boston Foundation reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document(s):

A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours, and term in which the course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 26, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
