Granite Construction, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children or grandchildren who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Granite Construction, Inc. “Character Matters” Scholarship Fund must be:
Children or grandchildren of retired or deceased employees are not eligible to apply.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $500 to $2,000. Awards will be granted in proportion to the number of applications received from salaried and hourly employees.
Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
All applicants will be notified in June.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Granite Construction, Inc. Payment is made in August.
Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of:
Finalist essays, each identified with only a Scholarship America identification number, are forwarded to Granite Construction, Inc. for review and ranking by an employee panel. These rankings are then submitted to Scholarship America for incorporation into the final recipient selection.
Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award, ranging from $500 to $2,000. The minimum award of $500 is considered an honorarium and granted for one-time only. Up to five honorariums will be granted. Recipients whose parents choose not to supply the requested financial information will be eligible to receive a minimum award only.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
