Griffis for Generations Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: May 12, 2021 3:00 pm CT

Griffis Residential has established a scholarship program to assist children of associates who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Griffis for Generations Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time Griffis Residential associates who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the associates’s household or primarily supported by the associate.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates or graduate students, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, graduate school, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of Vice Presidents and above are ineligible.

Awards

Awards will be granted as follows:

  • $5,000 awards for students attending two-year colleges or vocational-technical schools.
  • $10,000 awards for students attending four-year colleges/universities and graduate schools.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s or master’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and continued parental employment.

If a recipient enrolls in graduate study immediately after completing their undergraduate degree, they are eligible to renew their award.

The total maximum lifetime award amount per recipient is $40,000. If a recipient changes colleges, their award amount is subject to change.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an online recommendation and an essay about inclusion. Financial need is not considered.

In no instance does any officer or associate of Griffis Residential play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late June.
