Griffis for Generations Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: May 29, 2024 3:00 pm CT

Griffis Residential has established a scholarship program to assist children, grandchildren, spouses/domestic partners, or siblings of associates who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Griffis for Generations Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a biological, step, adopted child or grandchild, age 26 and under, OR a spouse/domestic partner, or sibling of a Griffis Residential employee who has a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, current college undergraduates, or graduate level students.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, vocational-technical school, or graduate school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children, grandchildren, spouse/domestic partner, and siblings of Griffis Residential Vice Presidents and above are ineligible.

Awards

Awards will be granted as follows:

  • $5,000 awards for students attending two-year colleges or vocational-technical schools.
  • $10,000 awards for students attending four-year colleges/universities and graduate schools.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s or master’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and continued parental employment.

If a recipient enrolls in graduate study immediately after completing their undergraduate degree, they are eligible to renew their award.

The total maximum lifetime award amount per recipient is $40,000. If a recipient changes colleges, their award amount is subject to change.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation
  • An essay about inclusion

Financial need is not considered.

In no instance does any officer or associate of Griffis Residential play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late July.
