Harmony Housing Resident Scholarship Program

Foundation for Affordable Rental Housing Holdings Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist residents of a Harmony Housing owned property who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Harmony Housing Resident Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a resident of a property owned by Harmony Housing on or before March 31, 2023 for a minimum of 6 months as of the application deadline. Residents include children and grandchildren of residents who were listed on the lease at the time of lease signing.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates or graduate students on a path to achieve a documented degree or certificate.
  • Plan to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school

Note: If you are the child or legal dependent of a Greystone Property Management Corporation employee, please have your parent or guardian contact Human Resources for more information. This application is for non-employee residents of Harmony Housing properties. 

 

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation.

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Foundation for Affordable Rental Housing Holdings Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive $5,000 to recipients enrolled part-time or for a single semester, or $10,000 to recipients enrolled full time for the full academic year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Foundation for Affordable Rental Housing Holdings Inc. Payment is made in mid-August. If enrollment status changes, award amounts will be adjusted.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

    • Your most recent, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 6, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.
