Alfred J. Verrecchia Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: May 15, 2024 3:00 pm CT

Hasbro is proud to sponsor the Alfred J. Verrecchia scholarship program to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of its employees’ children and to assist them in financing their education. Renewable Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Alfred J. Verrecchia Scholarship Program must:

  • Dependent* children age 24 or younger of full-time (minimum 30 hours per week) domestic employees of Hasbro, Inc. with at least one (1) year of service as of August 1 of the year in which the awards are made.
*Dependent children are defined as a natural or legally adopted child or stepchild of the employee categorized above, living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors and graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, or approved vocational-technical institute, in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to ten (10) awards will be granted. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at Hasbro, and continuation of the program by Hasbro.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late-June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hasbro. Payments are made in August and December.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Hasbro play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 20, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.
