The Hawkins Education Foundation

The Hawkins Education Foundation assists high school seniors who reside in Baldwin County, Alabama and plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to The Hawkins Education Foundation must:

  • Be a resident of Baldwin County, Alabama for at least one (1) year prior to the application deadline date.
  • Be a high school senior.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

PNC Bank Employees, their immediate family members, and members of PNC Bank employees or Trust committee member households are not eligible to apply.

 

Awards

Historically the scholarship awards have been in the amount of $4,000, but that figure may vary. The number of awards also varies but averages between ten (10) and twenty (20) awards.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale), and fulltime enrollment.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, Trustee. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered.

Scholarship America will evaluate and forward all eligible applicants to PNC Bank, Trustee. An outside scholarship committee will review applicant data, including all essays responses, and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 25, 2025 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
