Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A., as Trustee of the Janet E. Henry Scholarship. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

First: to those who are pursuing studies for the purpose of becoming secondary school teachers or librarians;

Second: to those students pursuing studies leading to a recognized profession such as nursing, medicine or law, but not limited thereto;

Third: To those students pursuing studies in the manual or other arts.

The scholarship should be considered for those who give promise, without regard to mere grades, of making a success of their professional training.

Financial need is not considered. Scholarship America will evaluate and rank all eligible applications. Scholarship America will send the eligible applicants to the Sponsor with suggested recipients and the PNC Trust committee will finalize the recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
