HF Sinclair Scholarship Program

HF Sinclair Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist dependent children of full-time employees or retirees of HF Sinclair or its affiliates who plan to continue their education in college or university.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

 

Applicants of the HF Sinclair Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children of full-time employees** or retirees of HF Sinclair or its affiliates as of the application deadline.
  • Students in their final year of high school or secondary high school who plan to enroll in full-time (at least 12 credit hours per semester or the equivalent) undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or CEGEP for the entire upcoming academic year.

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
**Only dependents of employees that are in job level M3/P5 and below are eligible to participate. Please refer to your immediate supervisor or the local HR representative if you have questions.

Award Information

Up to 30 awards will be granted annually. If selected as a recipient, the student will receive:

  • Up to ten awards will be granted to Canadian applicants:
    • $900 will be granted to recipients attending a two-year college or CEGEP in Canada
    • $1,800 will be granted to recipients attending a four-year college or university in Canada
  • Up to 20 awards of $2,000 will be granted to recipients attending a two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale (or 70% for Canadian students) in a full-time course of study (at least 12 credit hours per semester for US students or 60% enrollment for Canadian Students), continued employment of the dependent’s parent or retiree at HF Sinclair or its affiliates, and continuation of the program by HF Sinclair Corporation.

Awards are for undergraduate study at accredited institutions only.

Deferments

Deferments of scholarships are allowed on a case by case basis. A request for deferment should be sent in writing to Scholarship America.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership, honors and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of HF Sinclair Corporation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. HF Sinclair Corporation reserves the right to amend, in whole or in part, at any time or from time to time, to suspend or terminate the Scholarship Program, in whole or in part, at any time or from time to time.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of HF Sinclair Corporation. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August. Awards will be made payable to the institution, on behalf of the student, after verifying the parent is an active employee of HF Sinclair.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 6, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Student Hub.

Application Process

If you meet the Eligibilities and would like to apply for this scholarship program:

  • Navigate to the Scholarship America Hub by clicking the “Apply Now” button below
  • If a new user, Register as a Student. If a returning user, log in using your username and password
  • Complete or update the Profile section with current information
  • When eligible, the scholarship application will display on the Scholarships page
  • Begin the application by selecting the “Apply Now” button. Complete all application requirements
  • After the application is complete and all requirements are met, submit the application. Note: Once an application is submitted, no further changes can be made
