HII Post-Secondary Education Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: April 16, 2024 3:00 pm CT

HII has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the HII Post-Secondary Education Scholarship Program must be:

  • Children*, ages 25 and under, of full-time employees with two (2) or more years of continuous service with the company as of the application deadline.
*May be biological, step- or adopted child either living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Current high school seniors or current post-secondary undergraduates. Students outside the United States must be in their final year of upper or higher secondary school or be current technical or university level students.
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States or Canada for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of Elected or Appointed officers of HII are ineligible to apply. Employees of HII who are also children of HII employees are generally not eligible unless they are temporarily employed in summer or internship positions which are not eligible for HII tuition assistance.

Awards

Up to thirty (30) awards of $3,000 each will be granted to four-year college or university students.

Up to twenty (20) awards of $1,500 each will be granted to two-year or vocational-technical students.

$3,000 awards to four-year colleges or universities may be renewed up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. $1,500 awards to two-year or vocational-technical schools may be renewed for up to one additional year or until an associate’s degree or certificate is earned, whichever occurs first. Two-year or vocational-technical recipients who transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree may renew the award but are limited to a combined total of four years.

Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at HII (unless employment of the parent ceased as a result of their death, disability, retirement or layoff) and continuation of the program by HII.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need as calculated by Scholarship America must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of HII play a part in the selection. Selection is not guaranteed. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
