Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:
The authorized distribution for new awards will be up to $12,000. Up to three (3) awards of $4,000 each will be granted.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continued parental employment.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified in July.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing. Awards will be paid in US Currency and payment is made in August.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, any unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.
Academic evaluation of international applicants will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing play a part in the selection.
