Applicants to the Mike and Tami Hoffman Scholarship Program must be:

  • Active, full-time TCC employees or dependent* children of active, full-time employees of The Toro Company worldwide who have a minimum of two (2) years of employment as of the application deadline.
  • High school seniors or final year upper secondary school students, high school/upper secondary graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time or part-time (minimum 6 credit hours) undergraduate study at a non-profit, accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $4,000.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time or part-time course of study, parent’s ongoing employment at The Toro Company, and continuation of the program by the Toro Company and Mike and Tami Hoffman.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

A student may only receive one award from any scholarship affiliated with The Toro Company.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Mike and Tami Hoffman. Payments are made in one installment in early August. Award payments to international students will be issued by wire transfer in September.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Online recommendation

Financial need will be considered and recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Academic evaluation of international applicants will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance do Mike and Tami Hoffman or any officer or employee of The Toro Company play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
