Horace Mann has established a scholarship program to assist employees who plan to continue their education in job-related coursework or a business-related degree program. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
Applicants to the Horace Mann Employee College Scholarship Program must be:
Awards of up to $5,000 each will be granted. Awards are not to exceed tuition, books and eligible fees for eligible coursework.
Each recipient must remain an active full-time employee of the company in good standing at the time of award distribution upon completion of the course(s) with a “C” grade or better; and submission of a legible copy of grades and eligible expenses substantiating the full scholarship payment by January 15 of the following year. If these conditions are not met, recipients must repay their award to Horace Mann. Complete details and an agreement form will be provided to recipients in their acceptance package.
Recipients may elect to have the award distributed over three, two or one term(s). The college is not allowed to hold funds for coursework beginning after 12/31/20. Recipients who do not use any of the award may not be eligible to apply the following year.
Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. At the sole discretion of Horace Mann, the highest two ranked applicants may be given the option to renew the scholarship award up to three (3) consecutive years or until the career maximum of $20,000 in scholarship awards is reached, whichever occurs first.
Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.
