The Hospitality Restaurant Group Scholarship

Hospitality Restaurant Group has established a scholarship program to assist employees and/or their dependent children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time or part-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants of The Hospitality Restaurant Group Scholarship award must be:

  • Employees of Hospitality Restaurant Group who are in good standing with the company.

OR

  • Dependent* children, age 25 and under, of full-time or part-time Hospitality Restaurant Group employees who are in good standing with the company.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates or current post-secondary undergraduates or current graduate students.
  • Planning to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Recipients of the award must still be employed with HRG when the checks are distributed.

Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award in the amount of $1,000. Up to 15 awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies required for coursework only.

Awards are for undergraduate (including trade school) or graduate study.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in mid-June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hospitality Restaurant Group. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any director, officer or employee of Hospitality Restaurant Group play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
