Huhtamaki Education Assistance Program

Through Huhtamaki Education Assistance, employees’ dependents may receive financial assistance to help support their dreams of higher education.

This program is administered by Scholarship AmericaĀ®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Huhtamaki Education Assistance Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time employees** working in one of twelve locations*** who earn $85,500 or less in base wages (not inclusive of overtime and/or bonuses) and have a minimum of 3 years of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Applicants must be in good academic standing to be eligible. (minimum of 2.0 on 4.0 scale)

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

**Dependents of employees who passed away while working at Huhtamaki within the past five years and meet the eligibility requirements will be eligible.

Awards

  • Previous recipients of the Huhtamaki Education Assistance Program must reapply each year.
  • Awards of $6,000 per academic year will be granted.
  • Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Students may receive education assistance for a maximum of 4 years.
  • Awards are made payable jointly to the recipient and employee
  • Awards are taxable to the parent employee of Huhtamaki, Inc.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.
  • Students must be in academic good standing to receive the award.

Selection of Recipients

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you’re eligible to receive an education assistance award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Huhtamaki, Inc. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

ApplicantsĀ  will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Applicants selected as recipients will receive additional instructions to claim their award. If an applicant receives the education assistance award, they will not be eligible for the scholarship award. Students may reapply to the programs each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Huhtamaki, Inc.. Payments are made in two installments in early August and late December.

Students receiving a Huhtamaki Education Assistance award will be required to submit proof of enrollment before payments are issued.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
