Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship Program

Hunt Heroes Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist active duty service members, National Guard or Reservists of one of the five branches of the United States Armed Services or their dependents who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Service members of all ages, as well as their dependents and/or spouses, are encouraged to apply; whether they are returning to school or just beginning their post-secondary studies.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship Program must be:

  • An active-duty service member, National Guard or Reservist of one of the six branches of the United States Armed Services (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Space Force) and prepared to provide current military identification to Hunt Heroes Foundation if selected as a recipient; or
  • A dependent* of a service member prepared to provide documentation of dependent status to Hunt Heroes Foundation if selected as a recipient by providing (a) birth certificate; (b) custody or guardianship order from a court with authority; and/or (c) marriage certificate; and be
  • A high school senior or high school graduate or a current postsecondary undergraduate at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational school or a trade school student; and
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

*You do not need to be a resident of a Hunt Military Community.

NOTE: Retirees and dependents of retirees are not eligible for this scholarship.

Employees of Hunt Companies and employee dependents are not eligible for this scholarship.

Award Amounts

The authorized distribution for new awards is $50,000. Up to eighteen (18) awards will be granted, as follows:

  • Five (5) $5,000 awards for top applicants enrolled in 2-year associates programs or 4-year undergraduate studies,
  • Eight (8) $2,500 awards enrolled in vocational-technical programs or certificates, or the next highest-ranking applicants for 2-year associates programs or 4-year undergraduate studies programs, and
  • Five (5) $1,000 awards for the next highest-ranking applicants enrolled in vocational-technical programs or certificates, 2-year associates program or 4-year undergraduate studies program.

Service members must be active duty as of June of the scholarship year to receive payment.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and vocational-technical or certificates study only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hunt Heroes Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in early August payable to the applicant’s school.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected based on:

  • Community involvement
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An outside appraisal
  • The response to two 300 words or less essays:
    1. How has being a part of the military or part of a military family affected your life?
    2. What would you like to change in your community and how would you do it?

    Financial need is not considered. The selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Hunt Heroes Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

    If you are chosen as a recipient and you do not accept your award in the timeframe given, your award will be forfeited. Part of accepting your award is submitting biographical information along with a head-and-shoulders photograph to the Heroes Foundation.

    Obligations

    If selected as a scholarship recipient, Hunt Heroes Foundation and its subsidiaries, reserves the right to publicize the recipient name, school, and any information submitted through the application for public relations and promotional campaigns.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document(s):

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 7, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
