Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship Program

Hunt Heroes Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist active duty Servicemembers, National Guard or Reservists of one of the five branches of the United States armed services or their dependents who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Service members of all ages, as well as their dependents and/or spouses, are encouraged to apply; whether they are returning to school or just beginning their post-secondary studies.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship Program must be:

  • An active duty Servicemember, National Guard or Reservist of one of the five branches of the United States armed services (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard) and prepared to provide current military identification to Hunt Heroes Foundation if selected as a recipient; or
  • A dependent* of a Servicemember, prepared to provide documentation of dependent status to Hunt Heroes if selected as a recipient by providing (a) birth certificate; (b) custody or guardianship order from a court with authority; and/or (c) marriage certificate; and be
  • A high school senior or high school graduate or a current postsecondary undergraduate at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational school or a trade school student; and
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

NOTE: Retirees and dependents of retirees are not eligible for this scholarship.

Employees of Hunt Companies and employee dependents are not eligible for this scholarship.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Up to twelve (12) awards will be granted as follows:

  • Three $5,000 awards for 2-year associates program or 4-year undergraduate studies.
  • Four $2,500 awards for vocational-technical programs or certificates, 2-year associates program or 4-year undergraduate studies program, and
  • Five $1,000 awards for vocational-technical programs or certificates, 2-year associates program or 4-year undergraduate studies program.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and vocational-technical or certificates study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, community involvement, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal, including the response to two short paragraph (300-words or less) essays:

  1. How has being a part of the military or part of a military family affected your life?
  2. What would you like to change in your community and how would you do it?

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Hunt Heroes Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


Applicants will be notified in late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hunt Heroes Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in early August payable to the applicant’s school.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document(s):

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
