Idaho National Laboratory Scholarship Program

Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America. Scholarship America is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

Applicants of the Idaho National Laboratory Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children* of INL employees as follows:
    • Full-time or part-time employees with at least one year of service with INL as of the application deadline date,
    • Craft employees with at least 1000 hours working with INL during the previous twelve months,
    • Full-time or part-time transitioned employees with at least one year of combined services with INL and the previous incumbent, or
    • Transitioned craft employees with at least 1000 hours during the previous twelve months of combined service with INL and the previous incumbent.
      *Dependent children are defined as natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household and primarily supported by the employee.
  • Current high school seniors who plan to attend for the first time in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- year or four- year college, university, or vocational- technical school for the entire upcoming 2019-20 academic year.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive:

  • Fifteen (15) awards will be granted.
  • Three (3) awards of $500 each, ten (10) awards of $1,000 and two (2 ) awards of $5,000 each will be granted to the top two candidates.
  • Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.
  • Only one company-related scholarship may be received.

 

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of INL play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid-April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of INL. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
