Innovation in Education Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Silicon Valley Young Scholars, Association for Computing Machinery, the International Journal of Computational and Biological Intelligent Systems, and YM American Academy have established a scholarship to assist students who plan to continue their education and major in a STEM or medical field in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Innovation in Education Scholarship Program must:

  • Be entering high school seniors (recently completed junior year in 2021), 2021 high school graduates, or college undergraduate students.
  • Be United States citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
  • Have participated in innovative activities in STEM and medical fields. Innovative entrepreneurship and research projects are preferred.
  • Plan to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic or the academic year following high school graduation.
  • Plan to major in a STEM field*.

*Eligible STEM fields include medical degrees

Selection of Recipients

Sponsor will select the most qualified applications based on: academic performance, STEM and medical-related innovation activities, research, entrepreneurship, leadership, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, 1-3 online recommendations, and a unique essay* (1,500 character max).

Financial need will not be considered.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Up to five (5) awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Upon confirmation of enrollment in an accredited institution, recipients who were selected while in high school will receive payments.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Recipients may be offered research opportunities in STEM or medical field.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Sponsor. Payment is made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • The latest transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

A minimum of one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 10, 2021 3:00 pm CT. You may choose to have up to three recommendations submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
