Intact Scholarship Program

The Intact Charitable Trust USA, formerly OneBeacon Charitable Trust, has established a scholarship program to assist employees’, agents’, brokers’ and wholesalers’ children and grandchildren who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Intact Scholarship Program must be:

  • Children or grandchildren, age 25 and under, of full-time OneBeacon Insurance and The Guarantee employees. The employee must be in good standing and have a minimum of six months of employment with the company as of the application deadline date. The employee must continue to be employed as of August 1 of the application year.

OR

  • Children or grandchildren, age 25 and under, of individuals employed by independent agencies, brokers, or wholesalers that represent OneBeacon Insurance and The Guarantee. The employee must be in good standing with Intact Insurance; have represented Intact for a minimum of one year; and have a minimum of three years of continuous service with the agency as of the application deadline. The employee must continue to be employed with the agency as of August 1 of the application year.

AND

  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $3,000 award.

Up to eight awards of $3,000 each will be granted to children or grandchildren of employees, and up to eight awards of $3,000 each will be granted to children or grandchildren of individuals employed by independent agencies.

Awards are provided for one year only and are for undergraduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Intact Insurance Charitable Trust USA play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Intact Insurance Charitable Trust USA. Payment is made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must also be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
