The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

*American Fidelity Corporation, American Fidelity Property Company, and Cameron Enterprises

Applicants to the John Rex Memorial Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children*, age 24 and under, of full-time (40 hours/week) American Fidelity Assurance Company Colleagues who have a minimum of two years employment with the company as of January 1.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the Colleague’s household or primarily supported by the Colleague.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to three awards will be granted each year. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is earned, whichever occurs first.
Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study (2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale for the first year, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in subsequent years), continued employment of the student’s parent at American Fidelity Assurance Company, and continuation of the program by American Fidelity Assurance Company.

The parent must be employed by American Fidelity Assurance Company at the time the awards are paid.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.
