Church & Dwight Co., Inc. has established the John O. Whitney Scholarship Program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or university programs.
Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Applicants to the John O. Whitney Scholarship Program must be:
Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,500 to $7,500 (U.S.). Determination of recipients will be made without regard to financial need, but financial need will
be considered in determining the amount of each award. Potential recipients who demonstrate no need will be eligible to receive a minimum award of $2,500. Of the awards made each year, at least one will be awarded within Corporate (Ewing, NJ; Princeton, NJ and Regional Sales employees), one within the U.S. plants, one within Fort Collins, CO, and one from an International location, as long as minimum criteria are met.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic
performance (2.8/4.0 scale) in full-time study, continued full-time employment of the student’s parent at Church & Dwight Co., Inc., and continuation of the program by Church & Dwight Co., Inc. Receipt of an award does not confer upon the parent any right to continued employment with Church & Dwight Co., Inc.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership of and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals
and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award ranging from $2,500 to $7,500.
Potential recipients who demonstrate no need will be eligible to receive a minimum award of $2,500.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Church & Dwight Co., Inc. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the
decision as final.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in mid August. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes John O. Whitney scholarship payments on behalf of the Church & Dwight Co., Inc. Payments are made in equal installments in August and December. The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.
