J & S Mechanical Contractors Scholarship Program

J & S Mechanical Contractors has established a scholarship program to assist dependent children of J & S Mechanical Contractors employees who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice for the upcoming academic year.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be dependent* children, of full-time J & S Mechanical Contractors employees who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline.
    Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates or graduate-level students.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Children of executives are ineligible to apply.


Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of $3,000 or $3,500.

Three awards will be granted:

  • The top-ranked applicant will receive the Founder’s Award in the amount of $3,500.
  • The second-ranked applicant will receive the Presidential Award in the amount of $3,000
  • The third-ranked applicant will receive the Vice Presidential Award in the amount of $3,000

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will not be considered.


Applicants will be notified in late August.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of J & S Mechanical Contractors. Payment is made in mid-December.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours, and term in which the course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than July 15, 2022 3:00 pm Central Time.
