Kawaja Mason Core Values Scholarship

IFS Coatings, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist children or grandchildren of domestic employees, or domestic employees themselves, who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Kawaja Mason Core Values Scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be full-time employees of IFS Coatings Inc., or any of its affiliate companies, including but not limited to: Prizer-Painter Stove Works, Big Chill, IF Industries, Wolfrayet, and Ona Polymers (domestic) employees who have a minimum of one year employment with the company of the application deadline date.

OR

  • Be dependent* children or grandchildren of full-time IFS Coatings, Inc. or any of its affiliate companies, including but not limited to: Prizer-Painter Stove Works, Big Chill, IF Industries, Wolfrayet, and Ona Polymers (domestic) employees who have a minimum of one year employment with the company of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

AND

  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates or graduate level students.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.

Employee officers, children/grandchildren of officers are ineligible.

Selection of Finalists and Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation
  • An essay will be included on the application but reviewed by the Sponsor only.

Financial need will not be considered.

Once finalists are selected, a committee established by IFS Coatings, Inc. will review finalist applications, and select recipients.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as finalists or recipients. All applicants agree to accept decisions as final.

Awards

Up to six (6) awards may be granted, the number of awards may vary, and the award amounts are to be determined at the discretion of the sponsor.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility
requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of IFS Coatings, Inc. Payment is made in August. Checks are made payable to the school and sent directly to the recipient’s home address.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 29, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
