Richard G. King Scholarship Program

Utz Quality Foods, LLC. has established a scholarship program to assist associates’ children who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to The Richard G. King Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Utz Quality Foods, LLC. associates who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children include unmarried, natural or legally adopted children, stepchildren and any other children for whom the employee has been appointed legal guardian.
  • High school/secondary school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates, who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have an annual household Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $200,000 USD or less as of the application deadline date.

Award Information

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $3,000 (U.S.) award. Up to fifteen (15) awards will be granted each year. The number of awards allocated to each location will attempt to be directionally proportional to the number of applications received, provided there are qualified applicants.

The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Awards will be limited to one award per family per year.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in January. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Utz Quality Foods, LLC. Payments are made in one installment in mid-July. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of career and educational goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Utz Quality Foods, LLC. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than December 12, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Hub.
