Richard G. King Scholarship Program

Utz Quality Foods, LLC. has established a scholarship program to assist associates’ children who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

Applicants to The Richard G. King Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Utz Quality Foods, LLC. associates who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
  • *Dependent children are defined as unmarried, natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the associate’s household or primarily supported by the associate.

    Please note: Dependents of the Executive Operating Team members are not eligible to apply.

  • High school/secondary school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Award Information

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 (U.S.) award. Up to twelve (12) awards will be granted each year.

The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Preference will be given to those who have not previously received an award. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need is not considered.

Academic evaluation of international applicants will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Utz Quality Foods, LLC. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in January. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Utz Quality Foods, LLC. Payments are made in one installment in late July. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Hub.
