The Knauss Scholars Program has been established and funded by Clorox Chairman and former CEO Don Knauss to assist the children of The Clorox Company employees worldwide who plan to pursue postsecondary education in college programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited postsecondary institution of the student’s choice in any country.
The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Applicants to the Knauss Scholars Program must be:
Up to fifteen $2,500 scholarships will be awarded each year and will be paid in U.S. currency. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program.
One goal of the program is to promote diversity among scholarship recipients.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Awards may be used for tuition, room and board.
Students may receive funding through only one of the following programs during any given academic year: The Clorox Company Foundation Scholarship Program for Children of Clorox Employees or the Knauss Scholars Program.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of past academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does Donald Knauss or any officer or employee of The Clorox Company play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified by the end of April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes the Knauss Scholars payments. U.S. recipients’ awards are paid in two installments in August and December. Non-U.S. recipients’ awards are paid in one installment in August.
