Dr. Lester Aronberg Scholarship Program and Tony B. Scholarship Program or
LA-CO's Leaders for the Future: Education Assistance Program
Application status: Closed

LA-CO Industries, Inc. has established a scholarship program and an education assistance program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or university programs. Scholarships and Education Assistance are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

These programs are administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarship or LA-CO Leaders for the Future: Education Assistance Program must be:

  • Dependent children* between the ages of 17-23 of full-time LA-CO Industries, Inc. employees who have a minimum of one consecutive year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*A dependent child is defined as a child between the ages of 17-23 who is claimed as a dependent on the most recent 1040 or 1040A federal tax form. Step-children, adopted children, and children for whom the employee is a legal guardian are also eligible. If divorced and the child is not claimed as a dependent, proof that monthly support is provided for the applicant must be submitted.
  • High school seniors or graduates (or possess a GED certificate,) who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a minimum part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale).

Applicants to the single application will be considered for both programs.

  • One Dr. Lester Aronberg award of $7,500 will be granted. One Tony B. Award of $2,000 will be granted. Awards are not renewable and are for undergraduate study only. Applicants cannot receive both Education Assistance and Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarships. Participants can only receive the Tony B. and the Dr. Lester Aronberg Scholarships once.
  • LA-CO Leaders for the Future Education Assistance Program awards will be given to all applicants provided they meet eligibility standards and enroll in an accredited educational institution as described above. Applicants cannot receive both Education Assistance and a Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarship.
  • Awards are not automatically renewed. Students may reapply each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.
  • A student may receive a maximum of $6,000 over six years of enrollment or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.**
**Should the LA-CO employee leave LA-CO before the dependent has completed a term for which the student has received assistance, repayments will be deducted from the employee’s final paycheck and/or vacation checks. Once the employee leaves LA-CO, tuition assistance will cease.

  • Academic record
