Lake Shore Country Club Education Fund

Lake Shore Country Club has established a scholarship program to assist employees, caddies, and children of employees and caddies who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Lake Shore Country Club Education Fund must:

  • Be employees (all classes, full-time and part-time) of the Lake Shore Country Club with a minimum of one (1) prior season of employment as of the application deadline date
    OR
  • Be a Caddie** of the Lake Shore Country Club with at least one (1) season of full-time* experience as of the application deadline date
    *A caddie who has a minimum of 60 loops or worked an average of at least 3 days a week in the previous season
    **Caddies who receive the Evans Scholarship are not eligible

    OR
  • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time Lake Shore Country Club employees or Caddies** who have a minimum of two (2) seasons of employment with the company as of the application deadline date
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee
    **2 seasons of employment for caddies are defined as a caddie who has 2 seasons with a minimum of 60 loops in the previous season or worked an average of 3 days a week in the prior season

    AND
  • Be a high school senior (or high school graduate) current technical or college/university undergraduate student or graduate-level student
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)

Children of officers and executives are ineligible.

Awards

The Lake Shore Country Club Education Fund will determine the authorized distribution for new awards annually. The total distribution and individual award amounts may vary based on the funds available.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s or master’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale and continued employment or parental employment at Lake Shore Country Club.

Award amounts will be recalculated annually.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Short essay
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will not be considered when selecting recipients. However, financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Lake Shore Country Club play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Lake Shore Country Club. Payment is made in mid-August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

    • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
      • Student name
      • School name
      • Grades
      • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 8, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.
