Lake Shore Country Club Educational Fund

Lake Shore Country Club has established a scholarship program to assist employees, caddies, and children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Lake Shore Country Club Educational Fund must:

    • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time Lake Shore Country Club employees who have a minimum of one (1) year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date
      *Dependent children are defined as natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

OR

    • Be employees (all classes, full-time and part-time) of the Lake Shore Country Club with a minimum of one (1) year of employment as of the application deadline date

OR

    • Be caddies at the Lake Shore Country Club with at least one (1) season of full-time* experience as of the application deadline date.
      *A caddie who has a minimum of 60 loops in the previous year or currently working a minimum of 3 days a week in the current season.

AND

  • Be high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduates, or current college undergraduate or graduate level students
    • High school seniors and graduates, and current undergraduate and graduate level students must plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
    • High school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors must plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school upon graduation

Children of officers and executives are ineligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of up to $10,000. Up to 10 awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s or master’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and continued employment or parental employment at Lake Shore Country Club.

Award amounts will be recalculated annually.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only. Recipients who are current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors must plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school upon graduation. Awards will be issued upon enrollment in undergraduate study.

Selection of Recipients

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Short essay
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will not be considered when selecting recipients. However, financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Lake Shore Country Club play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Lake Shore Country Club. Payment is made in mid-August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 3, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.
