L.B. Foster Company College Scholarship Program in Memory of Daniel M. Ruzich
Application status: Closed

L.B. Foster Company has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the L.B. Foster Company College Scholarship Program in Memory of Daniel M. Ruzich must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 25 and under as of September 1 of the award year, of full-time L.B. Foster Company employees who have a minimum of two years of employment with the company as of the application deadline.
*Dependent children are defined as naturally born children of a Company employee, stepchildren or legally adopted children of a Company employee (or placed with a Company employee for the sole purpose of adoption), or foster children who live with a Company employee and depend of the employee for support and maintenance.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Children of officers are ineligible.

Award
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to two (2) awards will be granted each year as follows: one award for children of hourly employees, and one award for children of salaried employees.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in a full-time course of study, not being over the age of 25 as of September 1 of award year, continued employment of the student’s parent at L.B. Foster Company and continuation of the program by L.B. Foster Company.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of L.B. Foster Company play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of L.B. Foster Company. Payment is made in one installment in early August.
