U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman (1942-2024) served Connecticut for over forty years in both Hartford and Washington DC. Upon retirement from the US Senate in 2013, he established the Joe Lieberman Connecticut Scholarship Fund to assist outstanding high school seniors from Connecticut who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Generous donations to the fund support the renewable scholarships which are awarded for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Joe Lieberman Connecticut Scholarship Program must:
The first 500 applicants will be notified in late May whether or not they are recipients.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Joe Lieberman Connecticut Scholarship Fund. Payment is made in one installment in mid-August.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does Joe Lieberman or any other party play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the award decisions as final. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
